Writing Opportunity

Creative Writing Project

Science Fiction Short Stories of the East India Company Ships

A six month project to research and write a fact based short story, playing within the boundaries of science fiction, within a period history and theme of the majestic great wind sail ships of the East India Company.

You will enhance your writing skills, through learning activities using tools and access to resources as to better tell the adventures and perils of a protagonist or fictional character, through a made up fictional adventures of alter ego protagonist character within a period history.

By placing your lived experiences into the filter of a made up protagonist living and or working in the period of the great wind sail ships, similar to the backdrop of Charles Dickens “Oliver Twist,” and its period history. You will have the opportunity to articulate an analogy of your own life and lived experience of mental health. This project is to give a chapter of your life, a vehicle and means for closure, through creative expression.

Spaces are limited, to take part and offer an expression of interest, please take the time to write an approximate 500 worded expression of interest:

Write a sketch of your lived experience of living with mental health,

using an alter ego or alias of yourself, but within a parallel dimension, which is designed to permit a foothold to articulate strange truths, in your own personality and observing the surrounding environment in an eccentric and obscure way. For the purposes of this introductory task, you can use the backdrop of modern day times.

Please email Anna Maria from SHARP gallery, as to show an initial expression of interest. Funding is then to be applied for as to carry participants through a well planned time table of activities and events.
