At SHARP gallery we are looking forward to the year ahead and we hope
you are too. We are inviting artists to think about their hopes and
dreams for the new year and the great things that have happened which
you would like to take through to 2018!
We will be constructing an installation on a plinth in the gallery with 12
bits of string, 1 for each month.
What We Would Like You To Do:
We are asking artists take a piece of string and
We are looking for 12 artists, one for each month. If there are more, we
will simply tie the string together, e.g. if there are three artists for
November it will be a longer bit of string.

Some Ideas:
Constructing from string- Perhaps use wire
to sculpt the string and make it stiff enough to
secure it in interesting shapes
Chronology- What does the string represent? Is it a time line, displaying the
passing of the year, or does it record something else?
Size- Will you attach anything to
the string? Will it be comparatively small or large? Could you wrap
the string around it?
Colour- Will you paint the string or use colour in some other
way? Embellish with beads, threads or feathers?
